Which are best for fast learn Spanish – Formal or informal greetings?

In North America the Spanish people are decidedly less formal than their Latin America Spanish speaking neighbors.

It is quite acceptable to greet someone you already know with hola or hello. The wisest thing would be to use a much more formal greeting though, if you are greeting someone for the first time.

Buenos dias – Good morning.
Buenas tardes – Good afternoon.
Buenas noches – Good evening.

The most polite way to continue, and something that you’ll hear quite a lot in Latin America, is to Follow your greeting up with a formal title.

Buenos dias, senor – Good morning, sir.
Buenos dias, senora – Good morning, ma’am.
Buenos dias, senorita – Good morning, miss.

Greeting two or perhaps more people?

It’s expected that if you meet more than one person, in Latin America , you should greet everyone individually. There will be quite a lot of hand shaking and double kissing of the opposite sex involved.

To ask someone how they are doing is considered to be polite behaviour. The best way to do this is to say; Como estas – how’s it going? To people you know, and como esta usted, to complete strangers. Como means how. And estas means are you or you are.

8 Advantages Of Using An Online Spanish Language Course

Author: learnspanishfast  //  Category: Learn Spanish Cd, Learn Spanish Free, Learn Spanish Online, Learn Spanish Software, Learn Spanish Words, Learn To Speak Spanish, learn Chinese, learn English, learn Japanese, learn french, learn italian

Using an online Spanish language course is a great method to learn how to read, write, speak and understand Spanish. Because an online Spanish language course is so versatile, and interactive, it is highly effective for today’s learning style.

Actually, I am fluent in Spanish, but I had to learn on my own, with a lot of trial and error, mostly error! I was living in Spain at the time, and my hosts spoke little English, plus I had very little in the way of instructional material. All I really had was a first-grade primer to go by.

Most people cannot just up and go to another country to learn a language, so you must find another method to learn. There are courses offered at community colleges, high schools, and private schools, plus you can always listen to tapes and CD’s. I have personally used all these methods since returning to the US, but found them greatly lacking.

I found the classroom setting a big distraction and also quite boring. One of my classes was a little exciting though: we had a Cuban exiled criminal who was quite interested in the pretty American teacher. We all watched out for her, especially after class. Castro had tricked President Carter into granting them asylum.

I also found my CD’s and cassettes boring and out of date. I really was not interested in how to buy a brown umbrella, or hail a taxi. If the dialog with the native speakers was longer, it would be more beneficial, but they usually only speak in snippets of irrelevant conversation.

Once a female friend of mine borrowed some of my cassettes, but she said she didn’t like them. Apparently, most of the dialog was about a man picking up a woman at a bar! Funny, I it seemed normal to me.

Another series I own focuses on a businessman trying to get an apartment in a big city. This was OK, but I’m not a big businessman, and I don’t like big cities. So, a lot of the dialog just was irrelevant.

This brings up the fact that an online Spanish language course is up-to-date and relevant. Because it is interactive and updated, you get fresh information and terminology. This means that you learn how to surf the internet and use a cell phone, rather than leave a big tip (which is against the law in some countries), or hail the infamous taxi.

An interactive course will use things like games, riddles, stories, jokes and slang to keep it lively and entertaining. This is much more useful than elephants, and desks! Most people in the real world don’t actually speak like a book anyway.

You will find that you are much better enabled to actually carry on a conversation by learning in this manner. For example: if you can talk about futbol, you automatically have a connection!

Because an online Spanish language course is kept current, you will get things like updated grammar and dialog. This keeps the program more interesting and motivating.

It is a known fact that learning on a computer is much different than a conventional style of learning. Generally, people have a much shorter attention span online, and tend to skim and browse material, seeking the main points. An interactive online course will accommodate this learning style quite well.
