    nosotras estamos mal = we are bad… so the ‘we’ here is referring to a group of girls? can it be nosotros? nosotros estamos mal? is this sentence correct?

    Yes, you’re right “Nosotros estamos mal” is correct… you are learning… hehe
    and remember: “Nosotras or Ellas” refeers only to women, and “nosotros or ellos” refeers to men, or both
