How safe is Peru? Can someone tell me about Trujillo and Cusco ?
September 8th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Well, Cusco is a Save place but like another big cities there are some dangerous places, in Cusco there are pickpocket specially when you want to travel to another close cities in the bus and you have to take care about your back packs when you are sleeping, I can’t tell you more about Trujillo (North of Peru) but I think is the same.

yeah, the question of safety bothers me too! I would eagerly study Spanish in such authentic and beautiful place as Peru, but I’m simply afraid of going there! My father was in Peru smth about 10 or 15 years ago as a sailor and he says one of his co-workers was attacked with a gun as soon as he had set foot on shore.
Is it that bad?

Hi there, well, I want to explain that Cusco is more safe than other places in Peru. I mean the statistic of an attack with a gun to tourist is 1% I can’t say that there are not attacks but it is minimum generally when you are drunk and you are walking on the dangerous street with your camera and a money. Our city have now some video cameras and is more safe, we have more problems with pick pocket in the buses and accidents with the buses, this is a real problem to consider.
