5 Tips to Learn Spanish Fast
If you want to learn Spanish as fast as possible, this article will outline some excellent techniques that will help you to make sure that you do. Follow these 5 steps and you will learn much faster than those who do not take the extra effort – up to 300% faster. Firstly, know why you’re learning Spanish. You should create a very clear reason in your mind as to why you are leaning – whether it’s to gain fluency for a job application, to prepare for a holiday to Spain in one month, or to reach a sufficient conversational level to get by only in Spanish in Mexico. Most students don’t have a very clear picture in their heads as to why they are learning, which they can head towards and measure their improvement by. You will absorb what you learn in your Spanish lessons twice as well simply by having an understanding of where you’re heading. This sounds obvious, but many students do not do this.
Secondly, turn this reason into a clear and qualitfiable goal. Find out what is in the exam that you need to pass, for example. So that you know exactly what aspects of Spanish grammar you will need to know to pass it. Then study exactly what the exam requires you to know. If you’re learning Spanish for a visit to Spain in a month, your goal could be to master all possible restaurant, directions, emergency and small talk language. If you just want to learn to a decent conversational level, make your goal to be able to talk for one whole day, or week, purely in Spanish.
Now that you know a solid goal to head towards, your mind will naturally focus a lot more during lessons, and pick up the language rapidly that you need to achieve that goal. When your subconcious mind has been given a solid goal to aim for, it absorbs information twice as fast that will help it get there.
Thirdly, add time pressure to this goal. Set the exam for six months time, for example. and commit yourself to sit and take that exam in six months no matter what. Make a promise that on your holiday to Spain, you will speak only Spanish for an entire week, without a word of English. If your goal is to become fluent, ask someone you know that speaks fluent Spanish to speak with you only in Spanish for one whole day in a month. Ask them to hold you to your request.
This pressure will focus your mind wonderfully during classes. You will notice that you learn so much faster than your fellow students who don’t have a good reason, goal or any kind of pressure like you do!

Number four, make sure that you choose the best way for you to learn Spanish. Classroom-based lessons are often actually not the best places to learn Spanish. the pace will always slow right down – to the pace of the slowest, or at best an average student, while the teacher’s attention is divided between many students.
Actually going to stay in a Spanish-speaking country is the best way to advance fast. If this isn’t realistic for you, the next best way is to find a good home-study course, to learn at your own pace, in your own comfort, then follow step 5. And step 5 is to jump in at the deep end! This is by far the most important step you must take if you want to learn Spanish fast – but 95% of students do not take it. It is to simply find yourself a native-speaking conversation partner, who will talk to you at normal talking speed in his or her normal accent. Talk with them regularly, and you will progress beautifully. And very, very fast.
Over 95% of students learning Spanish never take this step. Most students study in a classroom for months, and even years, and then have real trouble understanding native-spoken Spanish, even though that was the whole point of learning Spanish in the first place. Make sure you’re not one of them!
