How To Speak Conversational Japanese Effectively

The way we speak is based on pronunciation amongst other things. It is a very common scenario for a lot of people to be met with confusion when they attempt to form a sentence in another language. Avoiding this is the key.  Sounds are what languages are built on. Living in a country and talking their language means that sounds are spoken in a particular way.  Different sounds are spoken in different languages.  Without understanding a sound in a different language we will have little hope of deciphering what has been spoken.

The Blocks of Pronunciation – Look at two main things when studying pronunciation.  Hearing and saying the sound are two different things and both must be obeyed.  The older we get, the harder it gets to make the sound and recognise it.  This shouldn’t stop us from learning new languages such as Japanese, it just makes things harder and we need new tips to help.  Here are some tips on how to learn Japanese.  Ensure that you are speaking the language right  Ensure that you speak the letters.  Check how your mouth is functioning. Physically knowing how a word sounds will make things much easier for you.

Some sounds are the same.  There are some sounds between Japanese and English that are the same.  English sounds are often used to compare with in dictionaries for a new language.  Similar sounds can be checked with this.  So which sounds are pretty hard to say?

Some words are harder to say than others and you should highlight these.  Pay more attention to these than others.  See how your mouth is working by physically making the sound.  Try not to make assumptions that just because something is written with the English alphabet that it should be spoken that way.

Out loud reading is useful  A course book or other books will assist you.  This will help you in two ways.  The first thing is that you get to speak letters and words.  You are able to practise sounds you think you should hear and get used to the sounds of the languages.

Do I need to be pretty good?  Discussions are plentiful on this.  For a lot of us getting by in other languages is good enough.  As long as we can speak clearly and simply and people understand what we are saying then we have done well.  After that we have a decision to make.  On occasion people can get very good at other languages.  However, for a lot of us we never reach that height, but there is no reason why we can’t get others to understand us.
